It is used for the treatment of bacterial infections of the skin and underlying tissues, and infections that have entered the bloodstream. Moreover, it is used in complicated cases of infections, such as methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) or “superbug” infections. Cubicin belongs to a class of medications known as cyclic lipopeptide antibiotics. The drug is injected into a vein through an IV. It may be used alone or in combination with other medications.
